Shocking Recording Shows Moment Police Suffer Blade Attacks in Unexpected Assault
A ranking policeman who jumped to the assistance of a fellow officer that was assaulted by a blade-wielder received the King's Commendation for Bravery.
Sergeant Tim Ansell struggled against 27-year-old Jacob Brown subsequent to he held a blade to the neck of his fellow officer Sgt Marc Foster.
Brown began the violence as the policemen and their colleague, PC Marcus Wolstencroft, were conversing to a driver subsequent to a vehicle incident in that location in summer 2023.
Brown stabbed and slashed both Sergeant Ansell and Sgt Foster prior to Police Constable Wolstencroft stopped him with a stun gun.
"Officer attacked," the constable could be heard saying over his radio.
Officer-mounted and dashboard camera video released by the police department revealed Brown, that was clothed in black with a hood up, rush to Sergeant Foster from behind with a weapon pointed forward.
He struck the officer who lost balance and fell to the street, before Sgt Ansell intervened and tried to wrestle him to the ground despite being repeatedly struck with the blade.
PC Wolstencroft pulled his stun gun and waited for a clear shot, concluding the confrontation to an conclusion.
Sgt Ansell was heard stating: "Please provide help on my throat here, I'm bleeding in the throat."
Sergeant Ansell sustained two deep cuts to his throat and further injuries to his arms and torso, whereas Sergeant Foster received slash wounds.
Officials stated Sgt Foster utilized his palms to stop his partner's bleeding before medical personnel reached the scene.
This most recent recognition follows subsequent to the trio of policemen won internal Bravery Awards in fall 2023 and the police federation award from the local Police Federation in spring 2024.
They were also awarded a North West Bravery Award in July 2024.
"The actions of each policeman eventually saved one another and meant no members of the public suffered any injuries."
Brown was sentenced to an secure medical confinement in April 2024, as stated by authorities.
